Disney has announced the much anticipated cast of the next Star Wars movie, which includes the likes of Harrison Ford, Mark Hamil and Carrie Fisher reprising their roles from the previous Star Wars movies. Also returning are Peter Meyhew as Chewbacca, Anthony Daniels as C-3PO and Kenny Baker as R2-D2. There is also a cast of new, mainly male, characters, and Star Wars VII will be directed by J.J. Abrams.

It is known that fans are divided about the selling of the Star Wars franchise by George Lucas to Disney, and many will be hoping that the movies to come are in a similar feel to the original series of movies. The one thing most fans won’t want is another Jar Jar Binks type character in a Phantom Menace inspired movie.

Disney has decided that these movies will be standalone movies and not following any of the lines of the expanded universe that has been created by novels, comic books and games. Disney does make amazing movies, not to everyone’s taste, but they generally have large pockets to fund some of the best special effects to make movies like this look sensational.

So the real question is… will the true Star Wars fans out there accept a non Lucas Star Wars? Will the movies still have the same soul as the Original Star Wars? Will people go and see this at the same rate as they did the other Star Wars movies? What do you think?

May the force be with you!
