'Barcelona' or 'the best MotoGP race of the year so far'

On a day Casey Stoner was off sick (kind of) and finished third, Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo were the class of the field.

Rossi rates this win amongst his very best and so he should. The last four laps were just amazing!

Both riders stole the show by being the class of the field. They might have the superior bike but there's no substitute for two team mates fighting at the same level, and furthermore at the front of the field.

To top up the excitement, we now have the top three riders all on 106 of points after six rounds. I think this speaks volume for Casey's ability to keep up with the two Yamaha guys. The Ducati seems very powerful in a straight line but not very agile in corners. Former MotoGP champion and other Ducati rider Nicky Hayden lies at the bottom of the timesheets. As the saying goes, you don't become a lesser rider overnight.

What a Sunday that was. 24 Hour Le Mans, MotoGP was a good way to end my TV weekend.

What about you, did you watch the race? If so what did you think? Nothing's off topic (TV coverage, 2009 season, etc) as long as we are talking MotoGP.

Sadly, I missed the race but caught the news.I am an australian patriot and have always ridden motor bikes through my entire life. I have no doubts, that casey stoner will forge above his two rivals. They are obviously good riders, but casey stoner is a very gifted rider who doesn't possess a fear factor. He his humble in his attitude and II know I am biost, but,I'll back casey stoner every day of the week!

The best MotoGP ? When fear is overcomes, replaced with courage skill, daring, imagination, determination and personal pride in two battling, neck and neck, front runners then I know I have witnessed the best MotoGP I have ever watched.

I saw Valentino ROSSI race and loose some years back,
And I can say this Little Guy was not happy and he made sure all and one in the team knew it.

This was in the PITS and I was standing on a catwalk over the PITS when he came in.

Did he bellow and so he should have they gave him a piece of (YES) and all know you can not WIN on that.
ROSSO told them so, and informed them in his Polite little manner to get him a motor that runs the entire race and he will WIN,

History; And so He got his Motor and He Won.

That was till another terrific Bloke by the name of Casey Stoner came along and we all know this wonderful story.

By the way any free PIT and Corporate box passes Just post them on to me. LOVE the BIKES.

Definately 2 of the best and most experienced moto GP riders I am not a fan of racing but these 2 guys really make the grade. I hope they survive to win many more events for the enjoyment of all.

I follow Casey Stoner and he is incredible but this MotoGP was breath taking. Rossi is a great rider but has the advantage of experience. Casey is a very strong contender for this years championship. Go Casey Go!

I was brought up to believe that it did not matter where you came in whatever you did as long as you did your best. Casey you have proved that this applies to you in many ways as no matter what adveraries you came across during the event you never gave up but gave it your best. Winners are grinners but those who give it their all always the biggest grins. Keep up your good work.

I was reminded of a quote I once read " champions find a way to win.
Rossi certainly falls into that category
Perhaps the magnitude of the event was not that great but when Rossi found a way to win on the last corner I was again reminded that nothing is impossible, it is only our beliefs that stand in the way.
I guess it just goes to show that in sports and perhaps for that matter in life, it doesnt matter whether you are in front or behind it only matters how hungry you are and Valentino Rossi was starving.
This exa,ple could be something you find n the dictionarry under inspiration !

Rossi tucking his elbow and knee in to make a pass on Lorenzo - definitely the best passing move of the year!

The last race was extremely exciting especially with Rossi overtaking in the final lap. This could be Rossi's season yet again. Many were saying that Rossi had pass his prime and with Casey and Lorenzo on the way up, it would be harder for Rossi. To me, Rossi has the experience to do it. Sometimes, you might feel that had he not rode the Yamaha, he would become even faster. The Yamaha seems to improve this season. With Rossi's technique and a better bike, he should be able to do it this year. As for Casey, I feel that the Ducati isn't that quick and slick on the corners and that might just cost him this season. As for Lorenzo, Maybe with better luck, he could do it. I reckon the season to finish this way: 1. Rossi, 2. Casey and 3. Lorenzo. Rossi, nickname the Doctor should just add another title to his glorious career and end the day to become one of the greatest bikers in the world. Just hoping that Casey would follow Rossi's footsteps and do Australians proud!

To ytahxiang: Jorge is certainly on his way up. Can anyone remember one of Rossi's teammate being as good as him with the same equipment? I bet nobody remembers the likes of Tohru Ukawa and with the exception of Nicky Hayden, Carlos Checa and Colin Edwards never managed to put a season together.

All these comments only makes the absence of OneTV in Bundaberg (one of the biggest cities in the state) worse. We keep reading about OneTv in the State papers, but get nothing

We have 2 ABC's, 2 SBS's, 2 Seven's. one Nine and one Ten. Often Seven programming is the same on both channels - the only breath of fresh air is SBS2, with some great programmes.

Re: Barcelona or the Best MotoGP race of the year so far.
Yes i saw some of the most daring riders do their stuff on these magnificent machines of today & it can only get better, the best man won on the day but don't write off Casey Stoner yet he will give us the thrill of our life before this season is over. So yes Barcelona was the best so far but keep your eye out for good things to come.

A great race, which could have only been better if Stoner could have just been a few seconds closer to the leading two. Augers well for the remaining races this season!

I missed the race but caught snippets here & there & i must say Casey Stoner is an excellent rider without the big head like some get, he's so down to earth & such a skilled rider, I like Valentino Rossi but if given a choice to pick the best, i would have to say my vote goes to Stoner, such a brilliant young man.

Although I did not watch the race and I am more into F1, I did manage to watch the highlights. Anyway there is no doubt, what the "Doctor" did was simply unbelievable. I don't think I'd ever seen something like this in my life - definitely not in F1. What a race and what a finish. His determination, desire, experience and techniques are simply stunning. It was the greatest performance by far. No one knows who is going to win until the very end. There were so many incredible passing that no F1 cars could perform. The top two positions kept changing until the very end which you wouldn't see that in F1 races. Having said that F1 is dying because of the big teams are leaving very soon and getting boring at the same time. Also look at the champion points in MotoGP are much more interesting than F1. There is no doubt MotoGP is much more interesting than F1 now and I think people should rename Rossi to "The Master". I am glad that he snubbed Ferrari sometime ago. Stay with MotoGP, Rossi, you are the real "Master"! One last personal note, I still prefer to see if Stoner could do the same and to get on top of Rossi if they were the top two riders in that race. It would be an even more interesting race in terms of Aussie perspective.

Wow! What a race Rossi as usual was the supreme tactician. Stoner rode the wheels of his Ducati & Lorenzo wasn't about to let either of them come between him & the Championship. The intense concentration required in a finish like that is unbelievable! Can't wait for the next round. The air will be palpable with all 3 determined to be up there until the fat lady sings!
I'm a rider and a Motorcycle Drag Racer also! so this isn't just a male thing!
